Fresh from the oven for summertime eating
By Jeffy Mai for Eater Chicago
Pizza is virtually a major food group for Chicagoans so there’s never a shortage of new spots popping up to satisfy that craving. The following 12 pizzerias have joined the fray in the past year and they’re dishing out cheesy, mouthwatering slices. No need to argue over which style is the best either as there’s something for everyone–from Neapolitan to Detroit-style pies.
There’s very little that hasn’t already been attempted or explored in Chicago’s vast pizza scene. That’s why this Lincoln Park restaurant from two former One Off Hospitality Group vets has been a breath of fresh air. The dough is in a league of its own: Three and a half minutes in a gas-fired oven produces a crispy crust that’s not quite Neapolitan-thin but stands up to the smattering of toppings like house-made meatballs and New Haven-style little neck clams.
